Who is Zenical Prescribed For?Like most diet drugs, Zenical is typically prescribed only for people with a body mass index of 30+, who are considered clinically obese. How to Take ZenicalTake as directed by your doctor. Zenical is most effective when one 120mg capsule is taken with a full glass of water with each meal (three times daily). Your daily fat intake should be divided equally between these three meals so you will benefit from Zenical's actions. If a meal is occasionally missed or contains no fat, skip that meal's dose of the medication. Because Zenical may interfere with absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (eg. A,D,E,K), a daily multi-vitamin supplement with these vitamins is recommended. Take the multivitamin at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after this drug (eg. at bedtime). The effects of this drug may begin as soon as 1-2 days after treatment begins, though weight loss will take longer. Possible Side Effects of ZenicalHealth side effects of taking Zenical diet pills may include gas with discharge, an urgent need to go to the bathroom, an increased number of bowel movements and an inability to control bowel movements. These bowel changes indicate that Zenical is working. They usually occur early in treatment, after meals containing higher amounts of fat than are recommended. (A good reason to reduce your dietary fat consumption.) Typically, these symptoms reduce as you continue Zenical treatment and keep to your recommended diet. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following more serious side effects: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives); an irregular heartbeat or high blood pressure.
