About Wheatgrass Health Supplements
What is Wheatgrass? What is Wheatgrass
Juice?
Wheatgrass is the young grass stage of
grain plants, taken just after sprouting. It is fast becoming one of the
most widely used health supplements. Wheatgrass juice - which is pureed
wheat-grass is said to be antioxidant, immune-boosting, a detoxifier and
possibly an anti-cancer agent. Wheatgrass juice typically contains 70
percent chlorophyll (an especially healthy nutrient), 20 amino acids,
several hundred different enzymes not found in other foods, as many as
90 out of 102 possible minerals, vitamins and other important nutrients.
It is perfect for dieters, athletes, people on the go, who want to maintain
a healthy immune system, or simply anyone who wants to feel great.
In 1958 Dr Ann Wigmore was singly most
responsible for popularising wheatgrass for its healing properties. She
tested various weeds and grasses from all over the world at the Hippocrates
Health Institute in Boston, and wheatgrass was her favourite due to its
high nutrient content.
Some Reasons Why Wheatgrass Juice is So
Healthy
- Wheatgrass Juice is one of the best
sources of living chlorophyll available.
- Wheatgrass is high in oxygen like all
green plants that contain chlorophyll. The brain and all body tissues
function at an optimal level in a highly-oxygenated environment.
- Chlorophyll is anti-bacterial and can
be used inside and outside the body as a healer.
- Chlorophyll (wheatgrass) rebuilds the
bloodstream. Studies of various animals have shown chlorophyll to be
free of any toxic reaction. The red cell count was returned to normal
within 4 to 5 days of the administration of chlorophyll, even in those
animals which were known to be extremely anemic or low in red cell count.
- Wheatgrass Juice is a superior detoxification
agent compared to carrot juice and other fruits and vegetables. Dr Earp-Thomas,
associate of Ann Wigmore, says that 15 pounds of Wheatgrass is the equivalent
of 350 pounds of carrot, lettuce and celery.
- Chlorophyll helps purify the liver.
- In the American Journal of Surgery (1940),
Bejamin Gruskin, M.D. recommends chlorophyll for its anti-septic benefits.
- Wheatgrass juice is great for constipation
and keeping the bowels open.
