Information About Adipex Diet Pills

Brand Name: Adipex
Generic Name: Phentermine

Adipex Diet Pills

Adipex is an appetite suppressant weight loss drug used for the short-term treatment of obesity. For best weight loss results, Adipex should be used in conjunction with a calorie-controlled diet and a healthy exercise program. Do not share Adipex diet pills with others.

How to Take Adipex

Take as directed by your doctor. Adipex is usually taken once or twice daily, with a full glass of water, before meals. Do not crush, chew or open tablets. Swallow them whole. Crushing or chewing Adipex tablets will destroy the long action and may cause increased side effects. Do not take this medication longer than directed by your doctor. It is usually taken for 8 to 12 weeks. If in doubt, consult your doctor.

Possible Side Effects of Adipex

Health side effects of taking Adipex diet pills may include restlessness or tremor, nervousness or anxiety, headache or dizziness, insomnia, dry mouth or an unpleasant taste in your mouth, diarrhea or constipation, or impotence or changes in your sex drive. Notify your doctor immediately if you experience any of these more serious side effects: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives); chest pain, pounding heart or very high blood pressure. Contact your doctor if you experience any unusual or distressing side effects.

Adipex and Other Medications

Before taking Adipex diet pills, tell your doctor about all the medicines you use, (prescription and nonprescription) especially if you take: high blood pressure medicine, MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), or any other weight loss medicine. Avoid "stimulant" drugs that may increase your heart rate such as decongestants or caffeine. Decongestants are typically found in cough-and-cold medicines. Changes in insulin and other diabetic drug treatment may be necessary while using Adipex weight loss pills.

Precautions When Taking Adipex

Before using Adipex diet pills, explain your medical history to your doctor. Do not take Adipex diet pills if you have heart disease or high blood pressure; arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), glaucoma, or a history of drug or alcohol abuse. Adipex is habit forming. You can become physically and psychologically dependent on this medication, and may suffer withdrawal effects if you stop taking it suddenly after several weeks of continuous use. Limit alcohol use. Adipex is not recommended for use in children. This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the health risks and benefits with your doctor.

Symptoms of Adipex Overdose

If you accidentally overdose on Adipex diet pills, contact your local hospital emergency room immediately. Sample symptoms of overdose are: fever, fast breathing, dizziness, confusion, panic-attacks, drowsiness, convulsions, unconsciousness, unusually fast or slow heart beat, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, chest pain, sweating, muscle weakness and large pupils.
